LOCKED UP & LOCKED DOWN HEADIN’ INTO 2025

Well… there has been a bit of an “incident” over here in F Unit that has caused the entire unit (which I happen to call home) to be locked down over the past few days meaning no visits… no calls… no emails… no TV… no nothing. We have transitioned to “modified lockdown” through New Years which provides me 5 glorious minutes to use the computer and phone… so here we are.

This is in no way an ideal manner to ring in the New Year… well lets be honest… it flat out sucks. But… what I will say is that I decided on day 1 of lockdown to get comfortable being uncomfortable and find a way to take advantage of the idle time. I was standing in my room… staring aimlessly at the wall… wondering what the hell I was going to do with myself all day for who knows how many days… when I looked in the corner and saw a stack of Food & Wine and Bon A Petite magazines. Which sparked an idea. I grabbed the stack and started pouring through them in order to put together a new menu for the first couple weeks of 2025… turned out I was actually able to accomplished the whole month of January… of new recipes for work. I found myself incredibly energized… thriving with the creativity that was flowing out of me through the pages of the delicious food that I was looking at. Between recipe day dreaming… menu creating and reading… I burned through the weekend like it was nothing.

So… all in all… I choose to find the light within the dark and I cannot wait to make these new recipes when I am able to get back to the kitchen in 2025. I mean… Garlic Bread Biscuits and Meatballs… come on!
